As of tomorrow, Sunday, Saudi Arabia plans to reopen the mosques of Mecca, after a three-month closure due to the new Corona virus, according to state TV.

The kingdom imposed precautionary measures to stop the spread of the virus, especially in Mecca, but the number of new infections has increased significantly in recent days.

The news channel quoted the Ministry of Islamic Affairs that «the mosques of Makkah Al-Mukarramah will start opening its doors tomorrow, Sunday, to receive worshipers, after a break of 3 months due to the Corona pandemic.

The channel added that preparations are underway in about 1500 mosques to receive worshipers, and it showed footage of workers who cleanse the floors and carpets.

The decision comes weeks before the annual pilgrimage to Mecca
