mainland on August 2, down from 49 cases recorded a day earlier.
Among the new cases, 36 cases were locally transmitted, of which 28 were in Xinjiang, in the far west of China, while the other seven were people from abroad, the committee said in a statement. This compares with 33 cases transferred locally and 16 cases of people coming from abroad the day before.
China also reported 11 new cases of undiagnosed people, down from 20 a day earlier.
The committee said that the total confirmed cases of coronavirus on the Chinese mainland are now 84,428. The number of deaths at 4,634 remained unchanged.
